PhosphorRad
iPhone / Références
PhosphorRad displays real-time gamma radiation dose rates from Ireland's national monitoring network, operated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
All 18+ EPA monitoring stations are shown with their current hourly readings in microsieverts per hour (µSv/h), colour-coded by level: green for normal background radiation, amber for elevated, and red for above normal. A pulsing status indicator draws your eye to the current assessment for each station.
Trend Graphs
Tap any station to view detailed trend graphs spanning 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. The time-proportional X-axis and labelled Y-axis (starting from zero) give you an honest picture of how dose rates have changed. As the app builds its local cache, the graphs fill out with up to 30 days of historical data.
Per-Station Statistics
Each station detail view includes min, max, average, and range statistics for the selected time period, along with sample counts and an estimated cosmic radiation component. Statistics update dynamically as you switch between 24H, 7D, and 30D ranges.
Station Information
View precise coordinates (latitude, longitude), altitude above sea level, and EURDEP station identifiers for every monitoring site in the network.
Fast Launch
Bundled seed data means stations appear instantly on first launch — no waiting for network requests. The app then fetches the latest readings in the background and progressively builds a 30-day history cache. On subsequent launches, cached data loads from disk in milliseconds with only new readings fetched from the API.
Retro CRT Aesthetic
Inspired by vintage phosphor display terminals, PhosphorRad renders everything in authentic monospaced type on a black background. Choose between classic green phosphor and warm amber CRT colour themes.
Privacy First
No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. PhosphorRad connects directly to the EPA's public API and stores data only on your device.
Data Source
All radiation data is provided by EPA Ireland via their public Radiation Monitoring API (data.epa.ie), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY 4.0). The EPA operates permanent monitoring stations across Ireland that measure ambient gamma radiation continuously, with hourly readings transmitted to the ERIC (Environmental Radioactivity Ireland Central) data warehouse.
