Mecabud is the first mobile application which evaluates the engine compression.
The principle of the test performed with Mecabud is based on tracking the waveform of the battery current during the cranking phase. 
Mecabud uses the magnetometers already present in your iPhone, no additional sensor is required.

- At first glance, the vehicle you want to purchase inspires confidence, but is the engine really in good condition?

- Does the engine of your car (truck, boat, motorcycle…) have a lack of power, burn too much oil, or produce unusual exhaust smoke?

In most cases, an OBD diagnosis is not sufficient to answer to these questions because it does not evaluate the mechanical condition of your engine.

The best solution is to evaluate the engine compression first.
Evaluating the engine compression is important for assessing the mechanical condition of petrol and diesel engines, a lack of compression in at least one cylinder means complicated and expensive repairs.

Evaluating the engine compression is complicated, you need to dismantle a lot of parts (intake manifold, spark plugs, glow plugs...), it takes time.

Thanks to Mecabud application, everything becomes easier!

With Mecabud you can perform a relative compression analysis and a compression analysis.

-The relative compression analysis
Only the number of cylinders is required to perform the test.
The relative compression analysis does not measure the actual pressure but compares one cylinder to the next, hence the term "relative".

The compression magnitudes are expressed in terms of percentage, the highest magnitude is the reference and is labelled 100%.
If the difference between the maximum and the minimum compression values is smaller than 20%, the application considers that the engine has passed the test.

- The compression analysis
The test procedure is the same as the relative compression analysis procedure.
Engine data (bore, stroke, compression ratio, number of cylinders) and battery data are required, Mecabud computes the pressure values in bar or Psi.

The application features other functionalities:

- The “voice assisted” option” guides you throughout the process so that you can perform the test on your own!
- You can easily switch between imperial and metric units.
- Mecabud is available in French and in English.
- You can share the results stored in a pdf file.

Mecabud is suitable for diesel or petrol engines from 3 to 6 cylinders.


Please note that the Mecabud mobile application does not replace a compression gauge and cannot determine the cylinder position, so the result could shift if you run the test more than once (please consult the FAQ page available on https://mecabud.com).
