Altarab — a complete Arabic music academy on your device.

12 tools, built around the maqam tradition and quarter-tone tuning that
defines Arabic music. Designed for oud players, ney players, qanun players,
vocalists, and anyone learning Arabic music theory in earnest.

TOOLS

• Tuner — cent-accurate microtonal tuner with the 24-TET grid that Arabic
music actually uses (Yegah, Rast, Sikah, Awj, etc.). Includes a pitch-pipe
reference tone for tuning by ear.
• Metronome — sample-accurate AudioContext scheduler, seven time signatures
(2/4 through 9/8), and a tap-tempo button.
• Iqaa — a percussion lab with eight Arabic drums (darbuka, riq, tabla, duff,
khashaba, sagat, bendir, davul). Pick a drum, pick a rhythm from the 43-cycle
library, watch it play.
• Iqaa Trainer — tap-along scoring for those 43 rhythmic cycles, with
tempo-ramp mode that lifts your BPM as you nail the cycle and a
build-your-own-iqaa builder.
• Maqam Explorer — all 73 maqamat with structure, branches, modulation paths,
and a custom-maqam builder.
• Maqam Comparison — side-by-side intervals and tuning comparison between any
two maqamat.
• Solfege — sight-singing exercises with quarter-tone awareness.
• Oud Simulator — Iraqi-floating-bridge oud with maqam-aware fingering and
Karplus-Strong physical modeling.
• Scores — sheet-music library with synchronized OSMD playback, transpose, and
loop.

QUARTER-TONE NATIVE

Where Western music apps round to the nearest semitone, Altarab tracks pitches
at one-cent precision and renders quarter-tone accidentals throughout —
half-flats and half-sharps in scores, MusicXML export, and the Composer.
