Choose Natural, Calm, or Energetic, or create your own response. Adjust ripple strength, size, speed, and damping in real time. Turn on the original water-drop sound for a more immersive effect and set its volume exactly where you want it.
Rebuilt for modern Macs
Liquid Desktop has been redesigned from the ground up for Apple silicon. Its new Metal engine runs the water simulation on the GPU for smooth, responsive animation. Every connected display gets its own liquid surface, and the stabilized simulation stays controlled even during rapid, intensive clicks.
Wallpapers load asynchronously, macOS video frames travel directly to Metal, and sources can be changed without rebuilding the desktop surfaces. Color-managed rendering keeps your wallpaper looking faithful to the original.
Designed to stay out of your way
Liquid Desktop lives in the menu bar and reacts only when you click uncovered wallpaper. Clicks inside apps, Finder windows, menus, the Dock, widgets, and settings panels are ignored. Pause or resume the effect at any time with one switch.
Private by design
Custom pictures are opened read-only through the standard macOS file picker and are never modified. Most current macOS wallpapers require no additional permission. Some extension-based dynamic wallpapers require Screen & System Audio Recording access because macOS does not expose their selected image directly; Liquid Desktop captures only Apple's wallpaper window and does not capture application windows, desktop icons, the microphone, or system audio.
Liquid Desktop does not monitor your keyboard, request Accessibility access, connect to the internet, show advertising, run analytics, track you, or collect personal data.
