This virtual tour of the Washington State Capitol offers students and teachers an immersive and engaging digital content experience in the workings of state government without leaving your distance learning classroom. The Washington State Capitol in Olympia is the centerpiece of representative government for the people of the state and truly represents the peoples house! From the height of its 287-foot masonry dome, to the gilded magnificence of its Tiffany lighting fixtures and its marbled halls, it is an amazing place to discover and experience!
This virtual tour utilizes 360’ panoramic views, pre-recorded video clips, voice overs, photos, and text, to bring the capitol building and its inner workings to life! Students will learn about the three branches of government and the importance of voting and public participation in the law making process. Students will be able to virtually visit the chambers of government where laws are made, see how lawmakers vote, and watch real debates! Students can explore the Legislative Building’s Main Entrance, Grand Foyer, House of Representatives and Senate Chambers, Governor’s Office, State Reception Room, Rotunda, and the State Supreme Court where important cases are appealed, reviewed and heard!
